Adaptive Sight: setup and use
Generate a ballistic sight for your vehicle and shell, install it in War Thunder, and configure the wheel so adaptive elements stay aligned. Manual Sight Input adds distance-linked movement to your existing DRAW artwork.
From generation to the game
Vehicle / optics / Ammunition
Select the exact vehicle variant and ammunition. Tiger II (H), Tiger II (P) and the Sla.16 are separate IDs. Keep the ID's capitalization. New configurations use War Thunder 2.59.0.11 data; older documents retain their legacy data. Changing the data version resets that vehicle's generation inputs. Vehicle settings are stored separately.
Sight / Variant
Tochka-SM2, Luch and Sector use a box rangefinder that requires the wheel setup below. Duga, Duga-2 and Luch Lite do not require that special box-rangefinder setup.
Start with Tochka-SM2 Base for one shell. Double adds a compatible second shell; Laser requires a vehicle with a laser rangefinder; Rocket uses a supported guided missile; Howitzer is for low-velocity shells and uses a 100% multiplier. Available modes depend on the family and ammunition. Target length, height and width describe the vehicle you are measuring, not your own tank.
Wheel multiplier (%)
The box is built from samples that align at wheel steps. Assigning the wheel as Increase/Decrease buttons can make elements jump upward and occasionally line up again. Use the direct axis:
- Controls → Ground Vehicles: set Mouse Wheel (ground vehicles) to Sight distance control.
- Set Mouse Wheel Multiplier to the same value as the generator, normally 50%. If you change it, regenerate the sight and its ballistic table.
- Open the Sight distance control axis. Clear Increase value and Decrease value, including wheel clicks assigned there. Leave the other sensitivity/multiplier settings on this axis at their defaults.
Generate / Range preview
Generate, then use the range preview to inspect the result. The displayed distance follows ballistic wheel samples; it is not a continuous replacement for the game's calculation. Export retains all samples. Save JSON if you want to resume editing later.
Download UserSights ZIP
Download UserSights ZIP and extract its contents directly into your active account's UserSights folder. The ZIP supplies all_tanks and a vehicle-prefixed filename. Do not add another UserSights or sight-family folder inside it. GameID is your own account ID.

germ_pzkpfw_VI_ausf_b_tiger_IIh_Tochka_SM2_pzrg_39_43.blkRestart War Thunder. In sight customization select the exact vehicle, leave Choose preset on User sight, then choose the file in Reticle and save. Reticle and Choose preset are different lists.
MANUAL SIGHT INPUT
In DRAW, select Manual Sight Input. Your current artwork stays on the same canvas. Choose a vehicle, shell and sensitivity; settings follow the selected vehicle.
- Select compatible objects or choose all compatible objects. Lines, text, circles and line-based geometry are supported. Filled quads, brushes and ribbon hatches are not targets of this simplified tool.
- Use real milliradians and apply the correction. This adds native barrel-linked movement to existing geometry. It does not turn arbitrary artwork into a Tochka distance-measuring box. Preview does not rewrite your source coordinates; undo/redo remains available.
- Save DRAW JSON to preserve all per-vehicle settings, bindings and artwork. Switching vehicles restores that vehicle's bindings. Old JSON without manual settings opens normally. Use the ZIP for installation; keep JSON for editing.
Troubleshooting
The sight is absent from Reticle
Check the active account's GameID, the actual all_tanks folder, the .blk extension rather than .blk.txt, and restart the client. Use the HUB ZIP: simply placing an original upstream vehicle-bound BLK in all_tanks does not add the required class filter. Renaming it cannot fix that. Do not change wheel sensitivity to solve a missing entry.
Elements jump upward or align only sometimes
Check the direct wheel assignment and clear Increase/Decrease button bindings as described above. Confirm the multiplier matches the generated sight. This setup resolved the observed Tochka jumps in testing; changing line coordinates or radial coefficients is unnecessary for that problem.
The sight appears but ranges do not match
Check the exact tank variant, selected shell, data version and wheel multiplier. Regenerate after changing sensitivity. Target dimensions affect distance measurement. The game does not automatically select a new shell-specific file when you load another shell.
A ballistic file or manual selection is rejected
A ballistic .txt must contain three tab-separated columns: distance in metres, flight time in seconds and penetration in millimetres. Preserve row order and the source sensitivity: row index encodes elevation. Repeated distances, infinite numbers, a wrong shell table, an empty drawing or incompatible objects cannot produce a valid result.
Check in a test drive
Confirm the file appears on the intended vehicle, choose its matching shell, reset sight distance, then turn the wheel step by step through roughly 0, 1000 and 2000 metres. Check that the frame and labels stay aligned. Browser preview alone does not certify in-game behavior.
