JSON and BLK Sight Converter
BLK is War Thunder's game configuration format for a custom sight. JSON is Hub Thunder's editable project format.
What the converter does
JSON to BLK
It validates a sight document and creates a BLK with native lines, text, circles and quads; Brush, Hatch, Fill and Shapes map to these primitives. New files receive the standard sight defaults, distance scales, horizontal ranges, and vehicle-class settings.
BLK to JSON
It reads parameters, p2, p3, b boolean and color values, plus nested blocks including crosshair_distances, crosshair_hor_ranges, and matchExpClass. The source BLK tree is retained in blk.nodes, so exporting back to BLK does not discard settings the editor cannot represent.
Import and export
Open the Sight Converter, choose or drop a BLK file, then select BLK TO JSON. Save the JSON as a backup or open it in the Sight Drawer.
For the reverse direction, choose a JSON file, validate it, and export BLK. Put the result in UserSights using the installation guide.
Limits and editing
The importer supports ordinary BLK parameter and block syntax. Comments are not transferred to JSON. Geometry that maps to the editor appears in elements; all other settings remain in blk.nodes. Keep that field to retain unsupported game settings. Warnings identify geometry not shown on canvas. Comments and formatting are not preserved; native primitives cannot recover Brush/Hatch parameters without valid Hub Thunder metadata.
JSON import up to 5 MiB instead of 1 MiB. BLK import up to 3 MiB instead of 500 KiB. A malformed BLK or unsupported syntax returns a clear error and is never executed.
